Wrapping of 21 double-decker buses.

In June of 2021, we received an enquiry via email from Natasha Hall the Marketing Manager of the Stagecoach Bus company in Gloucester.

We had carried out previous work for Stagecoach via a third party and therefore had proved our capability and skill in completing this major task.

Surveys were then completed on the requirements, which were to supply, print and fit a design given to us by the customer for the back of each bus along with also fitting graphics also supplied by the customer to both sides of each bus.

Work was then carried out by us on the graphics and a quotation and timescale for the work were submitted to the customer which we were happy to see was accepted within the week.

Initial work and meetings were then carried out with the customer to discuss and arrange various subjects to ensure that the fit went without a hitch

One of the points that we had to make clear to the customer is that due to the fact that the fit was going to be completed in the middle of summer it would have to start early in the morning and inside where it would be cooler as if it was carried out in direct sunlight and excessive heat then the vinyl would get very pliable and become difficult to fit and to line up the graphics and wording.

After long discussions, it was agreed that we would fit 2 buses in one day starting at 6 am in the morning and then would come back to complete the third bus the following day, therefore, completing three buses to the customer satisfaction in one week.

Therefore, the fit should be completed in 7 weeks which a far quicker than the customer’s expectation.

With all arrangements put in place, the process then moved to our production department and put in the hands of our design and print specialists.

The first consideration that our design team had to agree upon was ensuring that the correct vinyl was used, and, on this occasion, they decided to use two specific vinyl’s which were

  • White Gloss Wrappable Air Release Vinyl

This was used for the main body of the design and with two drops per vehicle.

  • Contravision Vinyl

This was used for the back windows to allow all-around visibility.

Printing then took place for four vehicles a week, which was carried out over five days to include printing, gassing off, lamination and cutting out ready for fitting the following week.

This then was transferred to our team of experienced fitters to carry out and fit three buses per week, two on a Monday morning and the other first thing on Tuesday morning.

This process was of course carried on over a 7-week period as previously arranged with the customer and our thanks go to the staff of the Stagecoach depot for their time in ensuring that the fitting went without a hitch.

So, when you are following one of these yellow, please think of County Signs.
